The Center for Sexual Health Promotion was awarded the 2020 Department Spirit Award by the Indiana University LGBTQ+ Alumni Association. The award was presented Friday, February 28, 2020, as part of the annual LGBTQ+ Alumni Association Celebration Weekend. This award came just one year after our very own, Dr. Brian Dodge, was awarded the Faculty Spirit Award by the association.

The Department Spirit Award recognizes all students and faculty, past and present, who have been part of the CSHP and who have positively contributed to LGBTQ+ research, community building, education, and student inclusion/training. CSHP doctoral students and faculty attended the award ceremony that celebrated each of the distinguished recipients.

In their acceptance of the award, Drs. Herbenick and Dodge expressed specific appreciation to their Award Nominator and outstanding CSHP Doctoral Student, Lizzy Bartelt. Lizzy’s contributions have been instrumental to the Center for Sexual Health Promotion's LGBTQ+ efforts.
